Having experience designing environmental education curricula, I am aware of fundamental principles in the field and can create programming that allows for inquiry-based learning of the environmental sciences. While I am driven to teach in the outdoors through field studies and other means, I am also passionate about educating in classroom and laboratory settings. I have taught human anatomy, advanced biology, general science and chemistry in my previous experiences.
I want to give students a meaningful learning experience that connects them with nature, motivates them to think critically about the world around them, raises awareness of environmental issues, and gives them a sense of power to help make positive change. I am also passionate about learning and want to share the tools of focused curiosity. “An environment-based education movement--at all levels of education--will help students realize that school isn't supposed to be a polite form of incarceration, but a portal to the wider world.” |
